Where would you get an iron-on patch?

I snagged a good pair of trousers. I want to use an iron-on patch on the inside to repair them. Where can I get one?

If anyone knows a specific shop in Limerick city, that would be ideal - but just telling me the sort of shop to look for should be enough.

    Thanks.

Any haberdashery/fabric shop should have them. These would probably be your best bet:

    Hickeys Fabrics
    Cruises Street
    Limerick

    The Cloth Shop
    3 John's Street, Limerick Tel 061 609490

I've also seen them being sold in the larger Tescos.

The Singer sewing shop on Foxes Bow used to do them.

    Thanks for the helpful replies.

The "funny" replies are very lame.

Hope you got what you needed patch wise.
Got to say never heard of an actual Iron on Patch. When
you posted I got the only image that came into my head was those leather elbow patches that used to be sowed into jumper elbows.

There is a product maybe someone else may be able to name it as dont know the correct term for it.

its like a spider web or white strip of material thats
about 1cm wide and comes in strips or a loose roll.
you can afix to a tear in fabric from the inside. You Iron it on and it kind of melts and melds into the inside of your fabric and is used instead of stitching. (but its a very weak join compared to thread) The last time I spotted this stuff was actually in the Local Spar shop. They usually have a stand that sells Playing Cards/Stanley blades/birthday candles/highlighters/superglue/combs/needles etc etc etc and one of the products was this web/white material used for tears in fabric. It may be the best thing for a pair of pants.

with regards to the funny comments its just people trying
to be light hearted in this otherwise miserable depressing section of boards. My only surprise is that if it was me that made a funny reply or Raiser we would have got an infraction for breaking charter rule number 7 which I personally think is stupid, but somehow everybody else is allowed a sense of humor here except us. Bah Humbug.

We'll be re-structuring the Forum Charter soon to deal with the mess that is Rule #7, among other problems. One of the issues here is a difference in moderating styles. When we've reached a consensus between the 3 Midwest mods about the new charter, we'll make sure everyone know a) what's against the rules, b) how different infractions will be dealt with and c) how best to deal with a moderator's decision if a poster isn't happy about it.

FWIW, I just deleted the funny/silly/off-topic replies here instead of dishing out cards.

@ pwd, hope you find what you're looking for.

    Cheers.

I started this thread in AH btw, so infractions wouldn't have been appropriate anyway.

Thats the stuff I knew it was named Web something or other.
Used it in the ol FCA days for turning in the end of the legs
on the fatigues without causing a visible stitch line as they were always about a foot too long.
