Chill

In early september I applied for work in a restaurant. I dropped my cv into the shell of a place that was soon to be a restaurant. I got the job and 30 days later I was working in a fully functional restaurant.

    Ok, my point....
Why the hell has it taken so long for Chill cafe to get on its feet?
The first question I have is Why couldnt this have all been done over the summer when there was no demand for food?
I know there is a reason, but I would like to hear it explained properly.

But now, it has been 4 months, and so far chill has had a paintjob, a refurbishment, installed some lights and some of the equipment has finally arrived.
Why is this taking such a ridiculous amount of time to get going?
you would swear that there isnt a severe shortage of lunch facilities on north campus.
Who is the person responsible? Bureaucracy? Michael?
I have walked in and out of the SU loads of times over the past month, and it is rare that I see work going on in chill.
This is a job that should have taken a month of hard work... why hasnt that occured?
Will we see an open chill in 2011? or more snail paced movements?

I really liked Jucie Lucie in the past, you really could feel the student vibe, loved the €3 sandwiches also!
I'm indeed frustrated at the time its taking for refurbishment,
hope it's finished by the time I graduate, but I doubt it at this stage!

^I walked in there with a friend, first day of college. Bought a coffee, opened my lunchbox, had taken one single bite when I was asked to stop eating or leave. Never went back.

I dont mean to be rude, but that is in no way whatsoever an explanation.

I heard it had to do with a contract agreement. Something in relation to who was contracted to provide a food service in the building, and the new owners can't move in until that contract has been resolved.

No worries. Truth is that I'm not sure of our legal footing when it comes to discussing specifics, but it looks like it'll be open soon.

Also, having tasted some of the sample food, I can't wait for it to open. Proper decent food, no frozen stuff. Eventually there will be the bar, Chill and the canteen, which combined will hopefully offer a good range of food on campus.

(food in Chill looks soooo good)

Someone fill me in here. The Speakeasy is closed? While there's no canteen? Or is there a canteen?

    Eh? O_o

No speakeasy, no canteen. Chill has been "coming soon" since the start of the year, but no sign yet.

I don't know how they couldn't have got it fitted out and all over the summer, but obviously if there's other reasons (contract stuff etc) not much could be done I suppose.

    Anyway, we all know the main point of anger is no moar comfy black chairs ;_;

    [/QUOTE]

Because there was demand for food; Italian and spanish students were over studying as part of ATC. This is only part of the reason. The previous staff were catering for said summer students and were in the middle of resolving the contractual dispute, it would have created conflict.

The previous staff felt very a grieved at how things ended, most of there anger has been said to be directed at the union staff. I could be POSSIBLE that this is the hold up.

maybe Astrobotty should become a consultant to the catering trade he obviously has some experience and should share it with those who seem to be in need.
in life one is either a "problem maker" or a "problem solver" but dont give vent to uninformed ramblings over other peoples endeavours.
looking forward to hearing your comments now the place is up and running oh and by the way its always a good thing to let the management of a premises/service know of your complaints/compliments it does help, dont just do it from your keyboard

its fine to make comment but it should be helpful and constructive and that was one of the corner stones of our business.

we provided a review service on several irish service providers to both the home and international market on a "value for money" basis and we never took any comments on board unless they were available to the service provider as well.

You know theres so many good ideas and people out there who just need to make their comments known in formats other than forums and bars counters.

the country is already top heavy with negativity lets not knock those who are trying and commentaries like that from Astrobotty really irk me.

I dunno, Chill is open but every time I go in there (~5 times during exams) the hotplates are turned off. I want crêpes, damn it!

Surely people have the right to complain as much as celebrate. If he'd come on here and praised you to the hilt i doubt you'd be getting uptight about it.

For the record Chill is grand. No more than that imo. Neither bad enough for me to complain or good enough to warrant praise.
