Advice on wedding rings

My wife and I got married recently.

I know nothing about wedding rings, we didn't get any yet, because we got married in a registry office, and of course there is no need to exchange rings at a registry office .

What's the best material for a wedding ring ?
I heard titanium is good, but looking on the web, titanium rings are quite inexpensive (maybe 50 euros each), and I don't want to insult my wife by getting her something cheap

I know Titanium is light and hardwearing, which is a very desirable quality. I like the idea of light and durable. For me it's the perfect choice.

The only problem for me is that it's inexpensive, and perhaps it's not an ornamental metal.

The alternative I'm thinking about is white gold, or gold, is this a more common choice ?

dont worry about the price being cheap if you both like them go for it , gold is common but soft so it will ware worse , i have a skin thing so i will be going with silver (its what we both ware anyway ) , id say take your wife to a few shops and look around see what she thinks

    Another vote for platinum here!

My husband's ring is Palladium, which is similar to platinum, but isn't as expensive, it's hard wearing though, which is important for him. Most jewellers stock it.

    Thanks for the advice

I never knew Platnium or Palladium were precious metals.

We are going to get Platnium or Palladium, I did a bit of research when I read the replies above.

We have our finger measurements, and now to buy online

One other question, is there a difference between a ladies wedding ring and a guys wedding ring ?

Looking on Amazon, they dont say if the ring is for a man or a woman. Is there any difference between a man and womans ring ?

Do married couples normally get 2 of the same ring ?

I thought a woman's band was usually thinner? Plus it's gotta be able to sit beside the engagement ring, whereas the man's band doesn't have that to worry about!

My husband has a titanium wedding band. It cost him $90 in the States, and I think it looks fab. It's really chunky and doesn't scratch or tarnish so always looks good (unlike my expensive platinum and diamond wedding ring which has to be cleaned and polished to keep its look).

Titanium is a great metal for men's jewelry and the only reason it's so cheap compared to gold/silver/platinum is because they are scarce there's lots of titanium.
