    hey looking for some thoughts,

was driving along tonight and the oil pressure light comes on, so i pull over as soon as i can and turn the engine off and look under the bonnet.

Its dark and i only have a phone but i notice a good bit of oil around the dipstick/air breather area. So i don't want to turn the engine on again so i push the car a little further off the road and i notice there is a good bit of oil under the car, about a pint maybe a little more.

I managed to get it towed off the road with the help of some very kind passers by and will get it to a garage tomorrow if i can.

I'm just wondering would anyone be able to give me an idea what might have happened? I no it does not look good I was thinking maybe oil pump failure

car is a 00 golf 1.4, just turned over 150,000 miles

    thanks in advance.

My friend had the same problem, oil pump was faulty and bill was 120e.

Car was the same type than you have.

Could be absolutely anything from a ruptured seal, to one of the additional parts of the engine working its way lose. There's no way to know, only a mechanic who looks at the car will be able to tell you unfortunately.

dont stay driving it anyway. pickup pipe could be blocked. result: no oil getting up into the engine = very expencive repair

possible that your breather/valve might be blocked, causing the oil to be under pressure and be forced out the dipstick hole
