Took me 2.5 hours to get from Sandyford to the M50, but I wasn't moving anywhere for ages, so I just decided to come back to work, which is where I am now, I'm the only one in the building!!

It's just all completely ridiculous, and to top it all off, it's absolutely bucketing down with snow again.

I live in Ballinteer so I know what you talking about! I was driving southbound on the m50 as it started to get thick. Would you not get a room in Bewleys or the Beacon? Its only getting worse!!

Amazingly the M50 doesn't look so bad on this. I think I'll give it another 15 minutes and try again, can't really afford a hotel, although it's very tempting!!

Anyone been on the M50 in the last 30 minutes or so?

Noticed all Northbound and Southbound traffic in turmoil at 6.45 this evening...Westbound traffic was fine as snow hadn't started beyond the M50 - different story now though...bucketing down in North Kildare this last 1/2 hour....best of luck with getting home OP...

edit..don't know where you're heading to but this doesn't look good.....rathfarnham...

Everyone Avoid dundrum if possible, traffic anywhere from the village to the m50 exit and especially the centre is at a standstill, theres 2 cars that have mounted the pavement outside my office and busses are having major trouble

It took me 4 hours to get from St.Vincents hospital to Rathfarnham(grange road). Fuck that ****.

Two hours to get from Rathfarnham to Citywest tonight...two damn hours!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,396 ✭✭✭Tefral

I drove from Dundrum to City Centre via the n11, turning down by the RDS and down on to pearse street.

Got home in 40 mins.. Some retarded drivers out there though.

    Hmmm.

    There is NO Snow
    There is No Ice
    There is No Fog
    The road conditions are Fine

I'm stranded on the couch. It took us 14 minutes to drive home today which was around the same as any other day.

Took me 3 hours to get from Parkwest to Dundrum this evening. Even the slightest hill is stopping traffic.

I am genuinely scared at some of the driving I have witnessed tonight though. The only good thing is now people won't go anywhere in the morning, so most of the idiots will be tucked up in bed while I trek to work.

5 hrs to battle from Sandyford to the grange rd, and then got stuck on the hill beside taylors lane.
Abandoned the car in a bus lane and walked home.

Left Dun Laoghaire at 17.30, now at Dundrum, Walkinstown seems a long way away. I'm bloody starving, fair play to the lad offering biscuits!

If I see another tard over revving in first gear, no I'm no gonna help push, in gonna open your door and cover you with snow, tard!

I left work at 5 and had gotten 2 minutes up the road by 6.15, my husband who was on the dart got off in blackrock, went to supermacs and brought me dinner in the car :D it took us another two hours to get home!

I live at the bottom of the grange road away from that hill. I had already been talking to people who said that the hill there was completely impassable. It was fun enough trying to make it up the hill from Rathfarnham crossroads! Just praying to god no one in front stopped on the hill, as it had been a steady blizzard for about an hour at that stage and the place was ridiculous. 523i beamers are not built for snow driving!

saw the snow coming in over dublin from central park and www.raintoday.co.uk,
so got on the road early at 4pm.
roads were just getting bad and were not as bad as i have seen on computer.
once got passed newlands cross it was ok,
but the max speed i hit on the m50 was 50kmph on my two wheels.

pic of van on m50, not taken by me.

Well it took a little under an hour and a half to get home. The incline from where Vodafone is in Sandyford to the M50 was the worst, lots of cars getting stuck, lots of wheel spin. Lots of people with the foot down in first gear!! I barely touched the accelerator and got up the hill fine.

The only upside to all this is I got to spend time in my new car that I bought today. :D

I will definitely be leaving work before 4pm tomorrow!!

Took me 5 hours from Blackrock to Bray- absolute nightmare; cars sliding all over the place, cars going sideways, people abandoning cars- craziest drive of my life, made it tho- now sleep

    Glad you're home dude.

I took this video from the office at about 5pm, it's the road approaching the leopardstown roundabout and the M50 on ramp for Sandyford.

Rear wheels kicking out? Drive like a crab will sort that for you.

jaysus those videos are terrifying - I was meant to be driving from Dublin to West Cork tomorrow, but had holidays left, so just got the hell out of Dublin last Friday (my boss, on last Friday morning, thought I was being a bit panicy - I wonder if she's home yet??)

It took me an hour and a half to drive quarter of the way around stephens green, with the fuel indicator steadily heading for empty. It finally got there when I was going by the car park so pulled in, went off and finished the christmas shopping, got some dinner. I came back when all the cars had gone and with the roads empty got to a petrol station handy enough. Judging by the queue at it though I wasn't the only one with the same problem.

I thought I'd avoid the m50 as the traffic going that direction out of dun laoghaire was not moving plus radio report said it was bad - mistake.

DL-Blackrock-Stillorgan-Dundrum (by far the worst part of the journey)-Churchtown-Rathfarnham-Walkinstown

I don't know the street names really but I'm sure you can plot my journey based on the above
