    Hi guys,

I have just started a new job 3 weeks ago. However on saturday morning I woke up and i was quite ill. I have been in bed since and went to the doctor today. He has given me a sick note for the week. I am on a course of antibiotics, paracetemol and a cough bottle.

I rang work today to tell them what the doctor said and they asked if I think ill need the full week off. I hate that i have to take time off so soon into starting a new job but i am really not well enough to go to work at the moment.

My question is, should i start to feel better during the week, am i covered to return to work since the doctor has signed me off all this week? From my conversation with work earlier, it sounded like they want me back as soon as i can get out of bed!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No. In general, you wouldn't be insured. Your team leader might be keen to see you, but the HR manager should be kicking you right back to bed again.
