UK colleges recognising FETAC qualifications

    Hello,

I'm applying to study midwifery in the UK next September. Right now, doing FETAC Level 5 in Nursing Studies. I was advised to contact the colleges I want to apply to, to make sure they accept FETAC qualifications. Have emailed them all. Thought this info might help some others working on their UCAS applications.

(only thing is, info might be specific to nursing/midwifery courses...but I'll post it anyway!)

    Glamorgan in Wales, accept FETAC.

University of Swansea, UK students only (for nursing/midwifery because of NHS funding and bursary requirements)

Cardiff University, UK only (same reasons as Swansea)

Southampton University have links with Dun Laoghaire College of FE, so I'm assuming they accept FETAC qualifications generally.

I'm waiting for replies from King's College London and York University. So if anyone know their policies I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks and good luck to all UCAS-hopefuls!

Hi I know you posted this two years ago but did the other Universities accept fetac students? I'd also like to know if you got into college in the UK? And if there were any problems. I'm doing a Nursing Studies plc in Waterford.

Hey Im thinking of doing that course this year. Do you mind me asking were there any requirements you needed over in england. like a B in biology or do they just look at the course. it would mean so much if you would reply :) because im trying to decide wither to repeat the leaving or do this course. Thank you

A majority of the UK universities and colleges attend the Higher Options event in the RDS each Sept so it would be a good idea to visit their stands at this event and ask specific FETAC questions.

When applying to the UK you're either going by your Leaving cert or your FETAC results. If you are using a FETAC course to get in the colleges mostly want at least a OL maths C3 type thing. I'm going to London next month after getting the distinctions my college required from the FETAC course and I had my OL maths B3 too from my LC last year. I would totally recommend doing the PLC nursing course. I learnt so much and even though I still couldn't get into Ireland for nursing I am very happy I'm going to London. I know that you were probably talking to the other person in this thread but I thought I could give you my experience and advice anyway :)
