Bit of excellent Christmas news....I have managed to get a job, in my field (miracle in itself - construction!!!). I've been lucky enough to only be 5 months unemployed.

I am so incredibly happy right now.:D To everyone else out there still looking, best of luck with the hunt and keep the faith. You WILL get something, there is a job out there for you.Never doubt that.

Thought I'd share a happy thought for once!:p

    What will you be doing?

I'm flabbergasted that you found a job in an industry that has fallen off a cliff in recent years.

    Well done though. :)

I really love hearing these stories especially around "The Season" and all that.

I can imagine the smile of a cheshire cat on your face and the change of "egg shells" around the house.(assumption)

Civil engineer, going back into civil engineering.:eek::eek:

I'm flabbergasted myself fat tony.Don't know how I managed it.

Have taken a big hit on the wages front, but I don't care.I can afford to live with a bit over and it's a job.Which is all that matters to me.

Its surely better than €188 per week but nowhere near as good as the 2004-2007 times when wages went bananas. I was working in construction during the biggest boom time and jeeps, housing, money, money just to come to work(on top of wages), free fuel, free everything was being thrown at me. I was in heaven.

Then one day. :( I stopped like I was hit by a bus.

Yeah Berty, that's where I've been for the last 5 yrs too......wasn't realistic though. And like I said, I'll just take a job right now, regardless of money!
