Prob with gearbox

    Im driving a 2000 mercedes clk 200, great car n all that...but lately i noticed when in 2nd gear n stopped the gear stick would slip out of its position.....Today when i got into it and started to drive all was ok till i tried to slip into 2nd gear, it wouldnt go in and in order to drive car i have to go from 1st to 3rd n so on........Anyone know of whats up here....???

    I'm not a mechanic but I have had the misfortune of having a gearbox go. Get this looked at as soon as you can. As far as I know, slipping out of a gear can be an early sign of a gearbox problem and you might have a shot at getting a repair done before it fails altogether. I'd imagine a gearbox replacement on a Merc would bring tears to your eyes.

    Try one of the gearbox specialists to see what they say before trying your dealer.

    Yeah having anything done wit a merc would bring tears ta ur eyes, even fillin wit petrol.. Was readin about it online n it sounds like it might need transmission oil, lets hope thats all it is....

    sounds like loose worn or bent shift forks to me, not a huge expense but does mean the transmission has to be removed, i'd get it to a transmission specialist asap as you will do more damage driving it like that
