My guilty pleasure movie is "A lot like love" starring Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet. Its a film I go back to every year or so and love it every time I watch it.

I can't explain it as it has everything I hate about movies.

Brian Blessed gave someone a warm hug at a Federation of Wholesale Distributors meeting when they said Flash Gordon was crap.
The 74-year old stentorian was charging the princely sum of £6,500 to regale the diners with tales of his illustrious acting career and daring adventures as a mountaineer.

Sadly, he didn't even get as far as the stage, as a diner on his table decided to give Blessed - who played Hawkmen leader Prince Vultan in Flash Gordon - his own singular review of the film. Blessed reacted by grabbing the man around the throat and booming 'I am not standing for this!" before storming out with his clip-on microphone still attached.

Flash Gordon is top draw comic book nonsense, I'd throw in another Dino De Horrendous
production - King King (1976), so bad its good.

Watched national lampoons griswald christmas vacation yesterday when i should have been studying. Pretty damn funny.

Two big guilty pleasure of mine are these:

It's pretty hit and miss but when it's funny its reall really funny.

Again a little hit and miss but very very funny in places. Gotta say its actually cleverer than it has any right to be, there's some pretty solid satire in there in places.

    American Psycho.

I even know it's not a great movie but I just can't stop watching it. Have seen it about 10 times now. Watching it right now as a matter of fact!

There should be no such thing as a guilty pleasure, if you enjoy a film you should embrace it not think of it as some dirty little secret.

Howard the Duck. So absurd, so ridiculously absurd. If I threw it on the TV in a room with people I would be praying for a hole to appear to swallow me up but I still love it.

I have to say I do like the odd romantic comedy, to be more specific the ones from the 80's like Working Girl/Pretty Woman. Not that I'd watch them weekly or anything but I did like them.

I saw Jerry Maguire on Tv the other night and enjoyed it allot mire then I should have.

Seriously, people, some of these "guilty pleasures" are bizarre.

Jerry Maguire is an excellent film. Crowe was deservedly nominated for an Oscar for the script. Just because it is a romantic comedy and stars Tom Cruise is no reason to feel guilty about enjoying it. It's in the best tradition of Billy Wilder's work in the same genre, and I'd consider it one of the best films of 1996.

Moulin Rouge is excellent as well. If only all the musicals which followed its example were so good. I can't think of another film so bursting to the brim with energy and ideas. It's one of the most intense and visceral film experiences you can have. Even if you hate musicals, you have to be impressed by the brilliance of the filmmaking.

And while I have issues with the way American Psycho was adapted, it's still a very good film in it's own right with a brilliant and hilarious performance from Bale. There's one particular scene involving Bale, a mirror and two prostitutes that is one of the funniest film scenes of all time imo and it's not in the book.

    ...but each to his own.

    My own "guilty pleasures":

The Underworld films. I can't stand the vampire fad that has taken hold recently, but I do make an exception for these films. There's so much about them that is bad - overacting, crappy scripts, goth outfits, hack director, but they also have Kate Beckinsale running around in tight leather, shooting stuff, etc. I do hope she makes more.

I also love Logan's Run. Again, it is a silly film with a sh1tty script and York is so annoying - prancing about waving a toy gun around, but I find it immensely entertaining. Oh and it has Jenny Agutter running around in a, um, bit of a dress. Hmmm, a pattern may be detected.

The Core is the ultimate guilty pleasure for me. Unobtanium ftw. Should be retitled "I can't believe good actors would agree to do this...oh wait cash".
