Nissan Primera Key Fob knackered

I'm sure I'm not the first to have this problem - but the rubber in my key fob has finally worn right through (it wore through a few weeks ago actually) - and following a good few stabs with the end of my house key to get it locked - the insides have given up the ghost now too.

Having read about the options for buying a blank key on ebay or similar and following 45 steps (which seem to include everything short of doing a dance around the car with a pair of red overalls) to manually program it - I'm going to bite the bullet and get a replacement key in a Nissan dealer.

One thing I do need help with (and please don't laugh :o) - as I wont get to the dealer until the end of the week - how do I lock the car manually? There's a lock on the passenger side - but it only seems to lock the passenger door. I don't have the manual so can't figure out for myself.

Lock the doors from the passenger seat, with the passenger door open, then get out, close the passenger door and lock it. If that doesnt work, then I'm stupmed.

Also, what year is the car? I'm thinking it's a P12 (2002=>) with the passenger side lock only. I've successfully programmed my fob on a P11 Primera (~1996=>2002) and can send on those instructions, it's possible that all is needed is a new battery.

    Hi,

This kit should repair key fob.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-Remote-key-fob-repair-kit-Micro-switch-battery-/250653863367?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5c226dc7

Switches can be replaced if you are good at soldering, and then replace covers. Then you may need to complete procedure available on primera forums.

Thanks for the tip - I tried that - but the central locking button in the car wont work with the passenger door open :(

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Are there individual lock switches on each door or just one single switch for all doors?

If it's a new shape primera, then it's one switch for all inside the car.
