    Hi All,

I have a problem with accessing some windows shares.

My machine (Workstation, Windows XP SP3) is on a Domain and the server I need to access is in it's own workgroup (Windows 2003 Server RC2 Standard x64 Edition SP2). The other servers that are part of this workgroup can access the share fine using the local admin account, however if I try to access the share using the local admin account I keep getting prompted for the username and password which I know for a fact is correct. This is a production server before any suggested "turning it off and on again". And help would be greatly appreciated.

I Found the answer after, the server was using NLTMv2 Authentication, but my pc was using NTLMv1. So I when to Local Security Settings (secpol.msc)>Local Policies>Security Options>Network security:LAN Manager Authentication level and changed it from "Send NTLM Response" to Send NTLMv2 response" and now it's working :D

NTLMv2 is used in Windows Vista and Windows 7, if anyone is having issues connecting windows 7 or vista to older machines.
