Want to walk up toneaglee to the heart shaped lake tomo with my girl friend from the wicklo gap side.

Just wondering how long it would take to go up and come back the same way..?

Is it a difficult/dangerous climb with the weather, we are both fit enough..

I nearly made it to Lug yesterday - only turned back because it was getting a bit late. Properly kitted out and with reasonable fitness it should be okay - just keep a close eye on weather forecasts and be aware of sunset/darkness times.

Here's a link for a walk description up Tonegalee - it says 3-4 hours but with slippery conditions and possible powdery snow slowing you down, maybe add another 2 hours? It starts from Glenmacness so you would have to vary it for the Wicklow gap.

I'd imagine the roads are a bit iffy with all the snow today, the gaps may be closed.

This is the way I went up from the Wicklow gap http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=647548
(Bear in mind that the trail as such will probably not be visable under snow, of course, and might be irrelevant if the snow is deep enough!) You have a good view of the lake if you head a bit north from the Tonelegee summit (towards Stoney Top, as in map). The trip would be ~3 miles there and back, but I've never done it in snow so don't know how long that would take. If you want to go down to the lake there is a trail that splits off down to the NE/E, which can be seen in the loop-from-Glenmacnass route http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=668550 (this is similar to the wicklowwalks loop mentioned above)
