No Sign Of Ebay Purchase - Seller Blames Weather

I purchased a small electronics item from a Dublin based Ebay UK seller 2 weeks ago. I live 60 miles from Dublin and as of today theres still no sign of it. The last reply I got from them was a group email to all customers basically blaming adverse weather conditions for delayed deliveries. The fact is Ive had other post delivered from the UK that I ordered one week ago. So it must be lost. The seller is advising people that its not their problem anymore and people should contact An Post or Royal Mail.
I dont see the point in contacting An Post about a small unregistered packet. Theres no way for them to trace it. So is the best course of action a paypal dispute in this case?

Even if it was registered, there's little point in the recipient contact An Post anyway, as it's the sender's responsibility to do this. Post has been getting through fine for the last 2 weeks, so this is either a case of him selling things he doesn't have, or he hasn't even sent them to you yet.

Paypal dispute now, and look for your money back. If he is selling items he doesn't have, then the longer you wait, the more likely it is he may do a runner, and you won't get your money back at all.

Do you buy online often? I wouldn't think so.

Even in times of good weather, when it's not Christmas, small packets can take more than two weeks in the domestic market.

Have a bit of patience and understanding.

Was the item definitely located in Dublin?

I do and I find that items from the UK generally don't take longer than a week, however I'm in a similar situation with an item I purchased a couple of weeks ago. If I don't get it this week, I'll be absolutely raging!

    Yes, without doubt.

The weather thing is bs tbh. Im getting post everyday of the week since I ordered the item. There is no way it would take 2 weeks to travel 60 miles down the road. Ive gotten the same item elsewhere in the meantime as Ive no faith it will just drop out of the sky in the next few days. I'll go with the paypal dispute so. Thanks for your replies.

1 or 2 days would be the usual, with 3 or 4 being a delay. Two weeks is lost. If you're waiting two weeks for a domestic delivery, as normal, then I'd get on to the Postman if I were you.

The dispute is the first thing to start, it is good to get a foot in the door as it then needs time before it escalates. The last time I got a dodgy memory card on ebay I had started a dispute before it had arrived (it took ages), it turned out to be a fake card but by that time it had already escalated and I got a refund.

If I had waited until it came I might have missed my chance.

BTW I ordered something from www.4men.ie just on friday

    17 December 2010 17:17

    its note said
Shipping Carrier: Republic of Ireland Economy (3-4 working days)

But I was shocked when it arrived today. This was sent within dublin.
