I have a long condensate drain that even though i covered it it has ice right at the exit and on the bend just above. Is there any long flexible drain cleaning wires i could push up there. I have no way to k now if it is frozen further back

I know it should have been insulated but he didn't do that

it is a 40 mm pvc pipe . I think its overflow do not understand bartol. it is piped outside the house to the drain. it freezes at the drain but i do not know if it freezes all the way along. I took a chunk of ice out this morning and another this evening. There is a bend just before drain so maybe freezing at bend only

I am going to get one of those flexible wire*things to clear the sink drain and stick it up to see how far it will go

    *not sure the right name

    Thanks

I was called out to a frozen washing machine waste last week and I tried to clear it with the flexible wire type thing but had no joy. Kettles of hot water over it is all you can do and make sure theres a fall in it so it shouldnt be lying in the pipe.

there should be like a clear flexible hose/plastic pipe coming out of the condensing trap before it goes into the drain pipe thats frozen - you could put the hose/pipe straight into a bucket so it doesn't go down the drain.

just remember to empty the bucket each day or a few times a day until the weather gets better, there shouldnt be *that much* condensing into the bucket

it is not a clear pipe but is flexible, sort of light brown colour. Good plan re the bucket thanks.;) You are probably right not much going through it and may only be frozen at the exit
