Have an iphone with a smashed screen ( it was cheaper to upgrade than to repair under warranty ). So where is the cheapest place to get it repaired ignoring applecare and warranty considerations ? And roughly what would it cost ?

If you feel a bit brave you could always try the DIY method.

I had to replace my own last year after an accident at a wedding. i had insurance but to make a claim it would have cost me more than to repair myself.

Wasnt the toughest task in the world and either getting it repaired or doing it yourself will void the apple warranty.
