Hi folks. I have the Acer Revo R3600 (The one without optic audio out). Using it as a HTPC running ubuntu media. Idealy I'd like to connect it to my surround sound system. I'm just wondering is there a USB-digital audio (Either optic or coax) adaptor at a reasonable price? Has anyone ever tried one using ubuntu? Drivers available etc? Also, would there be sync issues?

Cheers for the info folks and have a Happy Christmas.

There shouldn't be a sync issue provided you have decent driver support. The one thing that I did want to make sure you are aware that you can't have 5.1 PCM over optical, so at best all you will be able to have is pass through of AC3 audio.
