when typing an sms i like using the phone keyboard layout, this helps when i dont necessarily want to give typing something my full attention, eg walking while texting
but when using the internet browser or maps search for example, i much prefer being able to quickly type in every letter using the qwerty layout for addresses, company names etc

i know if you hold on the text input will allow you to change keyboard type, android/touch input etc but this isnt really what im after

(btw im using a rooted HTC desire with leedroid 2.2f)
