A lot of rumours on other forums that Aib will be delisted on the 23rd of December and the govt 100% taking control.
This day has loomed for so long but it will be interesting to see what happens in the markets in the morning.

Probably the worst kept secret after Gerry Ryan's coke habit. All went sharply down this morning (AIB, BoI, ILP) but have recovered a bit now.

Reminds me of a few years ago when one of the rating agencies (Moodys iirc) downgraded a number of mortgage related collatoralised debentures on Christmas Eve. I think they thought everyone would be too tired or drunk on brandy chocolates to notice.

I can just imagine the two Brians sitting down in The Horse Shoe bar mulling over their Christmas List. Cheese? No that didn't go down well last time. Winter Fuel? No, not with the price of oil as it is. Their gift to the state this Christmas shall be AIB. Just what we needed, another bank. Haven't had one of those in a while.
