Droning noise

No, not me going on and on! :p

Last night when coming out of a very snow-filled and icy estate I had a low speed (roughly 15-20 km/h) impact with a kerb - basically I turned left but the car didn't and the right-front wheel hit it rather hard! :(

Initially I thought everything was ok.. no body damage, nothing obviously amiss etc but tonight I discovered that at 60 km/h upwards a noticeable droning noise starts from the right-front side and gets progressively worse the faster you go... there's no other symptoms though: the tracking seems ok, no vibration in the wheel, no clunking sounds on full lock... just this droning noise.

I'm gonna get it looked at in the morning, but any ideas as to what's going on?

    Cheers!

Wheel bearing I'd say, but maybe someone more mechanically minded than me might offer a better opinion - but you've all the hallmarks of it, especially it getting worse with speed. Jack up the car, andd see if there's a wobble when you push the wheel in and out by hand.

    Second that.

If it gets louder the faster you go its definitely a wheel bearing.

    Cheers guys... much appreciated!

On the off chance I don't manage to get it looked at in the morning, is it safe to drive? Not something I'd rather do but I called my boss earlier to fill him in and he wasn't best pleased about the idea of me being out all day as we're in the middle of a big project.

    Thanks again

I'd say yes, but get it looked at when you can.
