I really love the print... but I'm not too keen on the neckline tbh.

I think it looks desperately frumpy in the pic but you have a nicer figure (or maybe it's just the way she's standing) than her so could probably make it work.

This dress is amazing, a beautiful print and color. The empire waistline will make anyone loose a pound or two and the neckline will flatter big boobs!! If your flat chested you may feel a little self concise in it, but then again thats what chicken fillets where invented for! And ditzy print is in, team it with some block colour's and you'll rock it

It's the print that's got me with this one, I love it and the colours!

Frumpiness seems to always be the problem with Laura Ashley, amazing prints and fabrics but always just a bit too grannyish. It could be risky..

I can actually remember when these dresses were actually stocked by Laura Ashley, and loads of my mother's friends wore them. They were really frumpy as I remember, not at all flattering. I know it's a lovely print but honestly, they really aren't very nicely cut garments and you could find a lot nicer.

Thanks Madame Razz, last nail in the coffin I think. I won't risk it just in case!

Ok so what about this one...

    blackgunne.jpg

I love it but my boyfriend's not completely sold on it. I'd wear it with some buttons undone I think. I don't know there's something really special about it but I'm not sure whether it'd suit me half as well as the model...

SS i love your style...on you...but neither dresses are very nice tbh. Etsy got it wrooong with the model for the first one bigtime(she looks like she should be wearing grunge/goth clothes) and the second looks like a graduation cloak with the yellow stripes. The print is fab in the first one though and i think you'd work it better than the yellow stripes in the second.

I probably shouldnt be commenting tbh as neither are my style, but i know "your look" and think the first is more "you".

I think that one is waaaay nicer!!!!

Think you could really work that one with the right shoes/boots.

    It's very smart:)

Personally I think those kinds of dresses are really, really hard to pull off. The combination of the very high neckline and the length might make it very covered up and frumpy looking. However, I think these dresses are very much down to personal taste. Loads of people on here love them, but I'm not too sure. If you could find the above dress in a knee length style or just above the knee it would be so cute and a lot more wearable.

    Love the second one! :)

What about if I wore it with a good few buttons undone and took it up to the knee? Still too frumpy? I don't know, I really love it just not sure if the dark colours would work with my colouring

I genuinely think you could work it as is. Yes, it's hard to wear dresses like that but the simple fact is that you CAN wear them. A lot of people couldn't; but you most definately can!! And I think the colouring would actually work quite well with your colouring; very nice contrast with your hair colour:)

Thanks a mil :) I'm gonna go for it! You are one convincing lady :pac:

Aww was just gonna recommend you get the first one! The colour would work well with the lovely red hair and I love the print. I would wear it with a long clashing cardigan.

Don't really like the 2nd one, the neckline or the colour. As the others have said though, you could prob make it work! :P Think my problem since dying my hair is that I stick to blue, green, purple and black so maybe I'm projecting that on to others! :pac:

That's what I was going to suggest. I think the first one would make anyone look awful but the second is beautiful and you could definitely pull it off!

I'd stay away from the Laura Ashley - I went through a big vintage phase several years ago while doing my postgrad. I used to trawl eBay regularly and I bought a few of the L.A. dresses. Big mistake. Very frumpy - think the best of Dynasty, Knot's Landing, Sloane rangers etc and you'll be there.

I'm not overly keen on the 2nd one, but it is miles better than the first. But that's personal taste speaking.

no im sorry but i do not like this dress at all. Its shaped like a bin bag tbh

I think that you are one of the very few people who could work both dresses! On either one, I would maybe take them up to the knee, as you suggested. It'd make both of them really cute and give them a vintage feel, without them covering up your fab figure.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really adore the second dress and I'm confident I can work it now after mulling it over for a day or two. Just emailed the seller to see can she reserve it for me until Thursday (aka payday)! :)

I'm the exact same only I don't wear black! Green clothes and red hair were meant to be together.
