Found some bizzare and some funny movie posters from Ghana http://www.lazypalace.com/hilarious-movie-posters-in-ghana/ What's your fave/worst poster? I know some that made a film look awesome only to be let down by the actual movie (the days before internet where we relied on tv ads and a cool looking poster)

I don't watch movie trailers at all (unless I've seen the movie) and so I my only exposure to new films is the posters.

I also avoid magazine interviews and the like as when I am in the cinema, I want to enjoy a movie and not have any baggage on what it is going to be like, or what others have thought of it.

Sometimes I will stuck some place and it will be impossible to ignore a trailer, like it was for me when in a mates house last month and just had to watch the Knight and Day one. Couldn't believe how much they gave away, most of the best bits are in it.

Anyway, I love Movie Posters for that reason above all else, they can capture the essence of a movie, yet still not reveal anything that will spoil your enjoyment.

As you eluded to, some posters make a movie look like it will be class, and it will be anything but (The Incredible Hulk being one) and then some will look quite dull and yet be a masterpiece (Halloween being a prime example, terrible poster for one of the greatest films ever made).

The Jaws poster is a classic for sure:

I'd be here all day naming the ones I liked, but another few would be:

Poland is another country that has it's own (fabulous!) take on film posters.

Personally I've always had a thing for Saul Bass' work:

The new Meet the Fockers poster is quite strange. Has some of the ridiculous photoshop peculiarities that were identified in this thread:

If a poster is meant to catch the essence of a film then this must be one of the strangest attempts to do so.

If you do not know this film, can you guess who or what Christine is?

Surprising the number of those african ones that involve decapitation ! The africanised versions of hollywood ones were pretty funny too.
