    Hey,

Thinking of sending the folks to Prague for Xmas present.
They are in their late 50s and arent big on drinking etc so thinking somewhere in old town?

Any recommendations or tips would be great - hoping not to spend more than 70-80EUR a night?

    Cheers

I stayed at bishops house a few years ago, very nice room was around your price range and was just off the charles bridge about a ten minute walk from the center of the old town. It's far enough away from the old town that things start getting cheaper (especially if you head towards the castle in the opposite direction of the old town) but close enough that it's easy to get to

The Central Hotel in Prague is lovely, very close to the Old Town and there is a nice lobby/bar for a coffee or a nightcap. Reasonable price too as far as I can remember.

Stayed in Jurys Inn when in Prague the last time, it had only just opened and only cot €37 for the night (probably a special offer).
Nice clean hotel, typical Jurys layout.
Central enough as well, about a 10 minute walk to Old Town Square.

I have stayed here many times, I'm actually heading there on Friday (snow permitting!), nice hotel, very near old town and it is very reasonable, I paid €168 for 3 nights between us for our up coming trip.

I was actually going to recommend Jury's at Florenc. It is a very central location, close to the metro line which will get you around the city fast. There is also, an excellent restaurant about a 2 minutes walk from it.

Thanks for all the ideas -

I went through prices and for 3 nights first week in April its about 550eur for the 2 of them. This includes flights, bags, room, handling fees etc.

How does this sound to people?? Im wondering if I could get a good deal going for a package instead of flights and hotel separately?

Cheers again...i owe you all big time

To be honest it sounds a bit high to me, but that's maybe because any time I was in Prague I was pinching the pennies.

Which hotel did you decide on?

Be very careful with Czech hotels, they self assess their star rating so surprise surprise, nearly every hotel in Prague is a 4 star or better. Check tripadvisor and pick something in the top 20

Good catch MajorMax, I forgot to mention that. According to various work mates who have come here have told me the best place to stay in Brno is the Holiday Inn, which they all laugh about because in the US the Holiday Inn is scraping the barrel.

My first week in the Czech republic I stayed in a '4-star hotel' that had no internet, no bar, you couldn't make international phone calls from the room, and only 2 channels.

OP, what dates are you thinking about?
