Pulled out of side street ealier today and ended up behind a driver who was obviously in a bit of a rush. He had cleared the snow from his front windows, and sides, rear window seemed partially clear, but seemed to have forgot to clear the 6 inchs from his roof.

As we were going along the rear window became more obscurred from snow falling down. Wouldn't of liked for him to have stopped or slowed suddenly and all of that coming down on his front window.

Also noticed in the week the cleared arch in the front window of a few cars, and nothing else cleared, covered side windows, rear windows, lights, bonnets, etc.

If any of these people had ended up in a crash and it could have been proved/witnessed that the snow was not cleared from their cars properly what happens in terms of insurance/blame.

Some countries you will be fined if you drove around like this.

I've never cleared the snow from the roof and it's never been a problem.

    See http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056122585 post #5.

I have personally seen all of the described scenarios, so take from that what you will, and as said the German (and probably many other) police take another view .. I know which one I value the most.

Maybe not for you but its incredibly annoying for the poor car behind you who is being showered by snow flying off of your roof.

Ive seen cars the past few weeks who havent even bothered to properly clear their windscreen, let alone the rest of the. Just more proof if more was needed that some drivers are simply utter morons.

I saw this last week. Driver didn't clear snow. Braked near red cow. Snow covered bottom 2/3 of windscreen. Cue weave and frantic windshield wipers.

Saw a few drivers who discovered why they should have cleared the roof before setting off. On each occasion the driver was peering over a mass of snow which came 2/3rds up the windscreen. People don't seem to realise that the heater which keeps them nice 'n cosy is also warming up the roof and causing the snow to lose it's bond at the slightest touch of the brakes.

I've seem some drivers just clearing a small circle on their front windscreen just to see out. Idiots!

I just used my heat gun. Took seconds to clear stuff off (Carefully bringing the temp up so as not to crack any glass). Neighbours were all out scraping, boiling kettles, using sprays, and I was gone in a few minutes :) Have it in the car all the time anyway, and having mains electricity in the car makes it useful all the time. Now if I could figure out some way to have 20 heatguns strapped to the front of the car warming the road up I'd be onto a winner :)

Its another form of pure ignorance that I have to contend with on the roads.

I have seen Meganes with their particular shaped rear are very bad for snow on the lights. As is the Focus Estate of either the current version or a version ago.
People only clearing front and side windows.
Cleaning everything except for the lights.

Driving on a motorway last week and there was basically an avalanche off the roof of a car as what I guessed to have been 4 inces of snow came off in one go at 60 to 70 mph.

I know know, but only one to actually post something as short sighted as that...
I've seen plenty of them today alone...

Do you get snow a lot? The rest of us who have seen this aren't making it up.
