Hi, I recently applied for planning for a garage 6mx9m. I got approval yesterday with four conditions.
Three are standard conditions, garage can only be used for storage, use black slates and external finishes to be same as my house.
The fourth is the one I have a problem with. It states that for written permission, the garage can be no more than 5m high. Originally I had the height of the garage at 6.6m same as the house a 45 degree pitch room, but this change will bring the garage down to 30 degrees less head room up stairs.
The whole point for me to build a garage is to have plenty of head room in the attic for storage <SNIP> also I want to move my solar panels from the house to the garage roof because it get sun all day every day and at 5m the pitch is too low.
Should it go back and see if I can get a compromise, may be 6 m high, does anyone think I could change their mind in anyway. I’m dealing with limerick county council.

You can either appeal this to Bord Pleanala or reapply for permission to amend the relevant condition. Talk to the planner first though.
