    Currently i have this;
    e7200 Core2Duo @ 2.9Ghz
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    4850 512 MB

but i think the 4850 is dead. I was looking at the 1GB GTX 460, seems like a pretty sweet deal, but would my processor hold it back much?

I dont think ill be upgrading any other part of my computer for a good while so should i stick with getting a 460 or save a few euro getting something that wont get bottlenecked by my cpu .

    Cheers for any info

it wont if you game at 1920x1080p, it will if you run a lower resolution though

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

Probably overkill then. Even a HD5750 could max most games at that res :p

Processors will throttle GPU performance, but in that case, I couldn't tell you by how much.

You could upgrade the CPU of course

Thats one of the beefiest things you can fit into an LGA 775 socket, But how sensible that would be, /shrug

And honestly the 5750 is about 10 to 15% better than the 4850

    with the 5770 being 20 to 25%

Any bigger and beefier than that (460gtx) and you won't see any returns really especially on that res..

Perhaps pickup a 5770 from pixmania for 110 euros and then scour ebay for a quad core that can fit that socket..

    200 euros well spent.

I am curious, you having any problems with any games on a 2.9 dual with the 4850 at that res? maybe GTA and a small handful of others..

Yeah most games are fine, but i play BC2 alot and its annoying when the fps goes down to 20-30s on a server with a lot of people, i really like to have high FPS especially in multiplayer FPS. But i think BC2 is very cpu intensive. Crysis Wars online on a full server didnt run very well either.

Im gonna try and cook my 4850 again to see if i can get a few more months out of it, if it doesnt work ill just stick with my X1950pro, play some older games then upgrade everything at some point, maybe the summer.

    Cheers for the info all.
