I've been thinking of a Golf, newer Astra, Mazda 3, A3 or a civic. My main requirements are reliability, good MPG and looks are important…

Hey all,

You should be able to pick up a current shape Ford Focus on your budget. Go with the 1.6 litre though, 1.4 litre is underpowered.

I'm not too fussy about the year really, or whether it's petrol or diesel. I've heard good things about the Focus all right, tho I'm not mad about the appearance.
