have a few questions about these systems. ive never fitted one but ive taken out a good few of them. ive come across one in a mates house and i dont know enough about them to help him so bare with me.
when i try to set it to part gaurd its flashin up pir on the screen and wont set. i think its saying zone2 pir but on the rkp zone list the pirs are on zone 7. ????????
it will only set to full set when i have the front door open and enter the user code.
usually when i come across an astec im de-installing it and fitting a hkc, but i thought this might be an oppertunity to learn about them.

    Zone 7?
    Is it a 49/D/DV.
Thats the only one that would have a zone 7.If so its a PiR on channel 3.
    I presuming its not a Fusion here.:D

A better option would be to install the Astec fusion as you can use all the devices that are there with the old system, much cheaper than having to replace the whole system. I would try get the old Astec system working than doing a full upgrade. They are a good system if installed correctly.

Did you do a factory default on the alarm ?

If you put the system in walk test you will find the true location of the detector but as koolkid has said it is more than likely a 49D/49DV system installed. The motion in the access area of the keypad needs to be set up for part guard to turn it off to allow you to set it for part guard. The alarm should allow you do a full set with the door open or closed.
