If you have a 360 just get a 10 dollar adapter from dealextreme and play that way.

Well you can still get the wireless adaptor and buy some wireless xbox controllers. The nice thing about these is most new games recognise them out of the box.

no that's a adaptor for the xbox to connect to a network wirelessly.

i'm not sure can you get the receiver for using the wireless controller on a PC anymore. better off going with a wired controller and sticking it into a USB post anyway. Should be less hassle setting it up

it looks like this - http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=091

and you can get them in GameStop, Game, HMV etc or online. they're around €30-40 though (not sure of exact price). make sure it's wired though and not wireless

    It looks like this:

M$ have long since discontinued it but you can pick one up very easily on ebay etc.

By "out of the box" I mean that a lot of new games recognize that it's an xbox controller allowing seamless use without a lots of faffing about setting it up remapping keys. Rumble just works properly too.

You may also see all on screen control prompts point to the actual controller buttons if you switch to the controller, just as if you're playing an xbox and back to the keyboard if you switch over and back.
    Arkham Asylum for example.

Of course some games don't support them so you gotta feck about with remapping.

would that be able to map a 360 controller to a joystick? i'm trying to set up my 360 controller to play I-War 2 which needs a joystick, but i'm having difficulty changing the controls in-game to it.

    Thats exactly what it does.

handy for games that expect a 360 pad only.

well this game uses mouse, keyboard, and joystick. i'm trying to get it set so i can use the 360 controller instead of a joystick as i haven't a Gameport on my laptop.
