you sure its not like topaz where they have a trolley system going? put in a euro to release the pump and then get it back when you put the pump back?

Do you not get it back?

Is it not you put the euro in and get it back? Like a shopping trolly?

The local Maxol (south cork) here has one of those aforementioned trolley connected. Pop in euro, releases the pumps connector, put pump connector back in slot and it releases the euro.

Don't mind the €1 trolly-style ones, stops people from just leaving them lying on the ground for other cars to drive over and break the gauge.

Few garages such as Texaco on Malahide Rd and Top on Amiens street charge you 20c for 3mins use of the airline. Wouldn't mind but anytime I've needed it it's out of order. No such thing as free air anymore :(

I dont know if you get a euro back, i went to top above the hospital and spunked air into my tyres for gratis.

and half of them air guages you cant even read the figures on them, the best ones are the type which automatically pump up air and stop after the psi is reached.

Still doesn't stop me getting asked by women to pump up their tyres

This has been the case in the UK for a long time. Allthough they have a digital display on the machine.

OP you should change your name to seXist in the city...;)
