Firstly, I want to thank all of the contributors to this Forum, you have given me some great advice in the last year or so.

My webdesigner has just finished my new website www.happyjane.ie

This website is the first of its kind. It offers customers a place to purchase sex toys that are Skinsafe, Branded, Inoffencive and Eco-friendly, top of the range sex toys.

We wont be selling anything that looks phalic. This takes away the obvious risk associated with owning an erotic toy, and that is, what if a child finds it? All our sex toys are discreetly designed by top ethical companies.

I've asked for this site to be reviewed in the website review forum but most of the tech guys seem to frequent this forum a lot more these days.

I'd like you all to take a look at this site and give me some constructive criticism/comments on it.

Once again I'd like to thank you all, sincerely.

Nothing says non-phalic like red veins bursting out of a dildo.

Viewed on an iPhone 3, on the right hand side of the menu banner, the search window is butting into the white out text.

Otherwise nice site and great idea.

    Good luck to you!

    nice looking site
    Easy to navigate

Out of interest - any chance of keeping the forum informed of how sales and hits are going.

Would be great to see it growing.

Nice website - but there are loads of "phalic items". Not that that matters

    Very easy to navigate

    Hi Choclolate,

When I said that there are no phalic items I meant there are no realistic replica penises. The items I have for sale might have the same dimensions as the average "you know what" but they don't truly look like one.

    "Clean, Green never Obscene"

I have 4 kids under 9 and I would die if they found something lifelike.

Hopefully it'll go well for me.

    Thanks for the incouragement.

The webdeveloper is adding some much needed SEO and fixing some minor malfunction in the CMS.

Does the site really need to be offline to make changes? What CMS are you using?

Its down nearly 3 days now. You need to kick your developers ass.

Still off - what a time to be offline.

Good site and hope it does well.

Do you have advertising in Europe, the Germans go mad for that kind of ****.

The webdesigner is keeping the site offline until he receives the final payment, €1409.

I was unhappy with the website's SEO and told him I wanted to hold off paying him until the site was up to scratch, so he took the site down until I paid the money.

He told me to send him the money without showing me the extra work he'd done on the site by Paypal. I said I'd send him a bank draft for the above amount, and have done. I didn't want to have to pay the €49 transfer fee to Paypal so I used a Bank Draft. But he won't put it live until he gets his money.

I will be getting the site properly optimised by someone else in the New Year, and getting the site up to the standard that it deserves and hoped for.

Hopefully the site will be back up soon.

Jesus, is he allowed to do that in the contract? If not I'd be suing him for loss of revenue - this is a big sales time, especially with people unable to visit bricks-and-mortar shops due to the weather.

Anything take your fancy Chris?:DI have a nice range of sex toys for men, take a look when the site is up and running and I'll give you a nice deal;).

I could have made a killing with the weather the way it is, but I'll start promoting the site properly in the New Year, it'll be a fresh start and hopefully it'll do well..

And I told him about the loss of potential earnings but it was like water off a ducks back.

    I'm a firm believer in Murphy's Law.

    And Karma.

I'll get the missus nicely sauced and the credit card at the ready, and have a look then... :)

Jeese Survey - that a fairly crap end of the stick you've been dealt. You should name and shame them!

Its not the way I'm made Blue.

As much as I'd like to, I couldn't.

Grow a set (if thats anatomically possible)!

Serious, if SEO was in the contract then it should be done. If you have the hosting account you could get a backup of the site and start from there, again.

If you dont mind the intrusion, if the balance much of the overall?

    The site cost €2900, €3500 inc.Vat.

Reading through the contract, its very vague and doesn't mention SEO, but the meetings I had with him SEO was mentioned quite a lot.
Amazing thing was, he never took any notes.
I told him what I wanted/needed, he said yes, but it was all talk.

You should name him to prevent anyone else getting stung :(

    Thanks everyone for your support.

    Happy Christmas.

Delighted it's back up for you. One glaring change that's needed asap for SEO is to add a good keyword based title to the homepage, i.e. something like "HappyJane - eco-friendly adult toys" (or whatever keywords folks are using to search) instead of just "HappyJane".

Actually looking at the site, all of the titles need to be changed to reflect the page content. Can you change the titles in the CMS?
Edit: I see that it's Expression Engine. Get your dev to install http://loweblog.com/freelance/article/ee-title-plugin/

Here's some info on changing the titles (technical): http://expressionengine.com/blog/entry/seo_entry_titles_and_title/

I'll be getting someone to take care of the SEO in the New Year, will they be able to alter the site without my webdesigners help?

I know nothing about SEO but even I would have used proper keywords, a no brainer I would have thought. We talked about this at our meetings.

He hasn't received the Bank Draft yet (bad weather), so he put the site back up in good faith until Dec 27th. but he has restricted access to the CMS.

Quite easy to find out who made the website in fairness...

    Hi,

Nicely designed website for the product your selling.

Maybe Under the "Contact page" I think you should have your full contact details like you have in your "terms and conditions" page and maybe a landline number don't see one anywhere. Also I think some information you have in the T&C's could do with being highlighted more to entice potential customers to buy.

Like letting them know ordering from your website all packaging will be discreet!! That the merchant name that will appear on there credit card statement is not going to say something like "Happy Jane Sex Toys"

I see delivery straight off for orders over €50 is Free but orders under 50 is how much? I need to login to PayPal to see the delivery charge and If I don't have a papal account will I complete the sign up to PayPal just to see how much the delivery charge will be?

I think all items should have the P&P cost under the items price even the items over €50 should be screaming free P&P under the items price! Some people may not have seen on your home page that 50 and above P&P is free.

Over all well done and best of luck with your website for 2011.

I'm horrified. Please don't use that webdesigner any more for updates or anything.

I like the site though, it's 'friendly' - just a pity about the massive amounts of blank space either size of the page - I think the developer made it just a little bit too thin, no reason for that. I like the tagline. Also I think you chose a good business name.

Wish you the absolute best of luck!
