Road condition Galway to dublin

    Hi I am hoping to make a journey from galway city to Dublin in the next 2 hours.

    Has anyone travelled this route today? or part of this route and is there any ice/snow affecting the route?

    Motorways look like they are ok, but around the towns and cities looks bad....

    *CONDITIONS* Compacted snow and icy conditions are affecting driving conditions around the country. * Slow down & stick to main routes if possible which are more likely to have been treated. Use dipped headlights to increase visibility. *MUNSTER* *LIMERICK* Roads very slippery, especially on N21/Abbeyfeale/Newcastle West Rd. *TIPPERARY* Icy conditions reported on the N62/Thurles/Roscrea Rd. *CORK* Drive with extreme care in the city. Maryborough Hill near Douglas is impassable, as is St Lukes Cross, Wallaces Ave & Cathedral Rd. * Very icy at Frankfield Hill. * Extra care needed on Main St in Milltown & on the N20 between Croom & Mallow. * Very icy on N73 Mallow/Mitchelstown Rd, N72 Mallow/Killavullen Rd. *KERRY* The N22/Tralee/Killarney Rd and the N86/Dingle/Tralee Rd are treacherous due to icy conditions. Elsewhere, motorists should avoid Moll’s Gap Rd while the Conor Pass remains closed.

    *CONNAUGHT* *MAYO* Icy on N5 at Charlestown, Castlebar and Westport. Also icy on Pontoon Rd leaving Castlebar & on Partry/Westport Rd. *ROSCOMMON* Extremely icy on Boyle/Frenchpark Rd (R361), N61/Boyle/Roscommon Rd & Elphin/Carrick on Shannon Rd (R368). *SLIGO* Very icy on N16 Sligo/Manorhamilton Rd from Glencar to Blacklion (Cavan) and Sligo-Ballintogher Rd. * Very icy on N17 around Tubbercurry especially towards Achonry. * Extremely icy on N4 at Carraroe. * Avoid Connaughton Rd & Gallows Hill in Sligo Town. *GALWAY* Conditions are extremely icy around Galway City. * Treacherous on Ballinasloe/Portumna Rd (R355).



    *LEITRIM* Ice and compacted snow on the N4 through Carrick on Shannon-treacherous on secondary routes. *ULSTER* *DONEGAL* Conditions are treacherous around the county. Gardai advise against any unnecessary journeys, especially on secondary routes. * Barnesmore Gap should be avoided. Extra care also needed around Glenties. * Avoid Meenroy on the Letterkenny/Fintown Rd (R250). * Very icy on the N14 Lifford/Letterkenny Rd, at Lurgybrack on N15/Letterkenny/Ballybofey Rd & on Milford/Letterkenny Rd (R245) at Ramelton. *CAVAN* Very icy in the county. Stick to main roads in Cavan Town. * Garrymore Hill in Bellananagh on the Bellananagh to Granard Rd is impassable both ways. * Also icy at Drumavaddy. * Very icy on the Ballyjamesduff/Virginia Rd near Ballyjamesduff.

    *LEINSTER* *KILDARE* Avoid Rathbride Rd (R415) in The Curragh. *LOUTH* Treacherous conditions reported on the N2/Dublin/Monaghan Rd between Collon and Ardee. * Extremely icy on Castlebellingham/ Dundalk Rd, Carrickmacross/Drogheda Rd. *OFFALY* The N61 Kinnitty/Mountrath Rd is closed. *MEATH* Extreme care needed around Castlegates in Slane. *WICKLOW* Icy on N81 Blessington/Tallaght Rd. Elsewhere, Kilgarron Hill in Enniskerry should be avoided. * Gardai say avoid The Wicklow & Sally Gaps. *WESTMEATH* Treacherous, especially around Mullingar & Moate. *M6/N6* Icy N6/M6 Dublin/Galway Rd between J9 Garrycastle & J13 Athlone (West). *M4/N4* Very icy on the M4/Dublin/Sligo Rd near Mullingar. * Very icy on the N61/Athlone/Roscommon Rd. * N55 Athlone/Ballymahon Rd icy at Ballykeeran Hill.

    i just saw that bus eireann are running service but with 40min delay due to snow galway to athlone.
