    Does any one know of a shop in Ireland where a 12 inch portable dvd player can be bought?

    nope - normally only come with smaller screens. only thing that comes close would be a 12" or 13" laptop with a dvd player built in - that would be about €600 though. you might get a second-hand laptop like this http://www.adverts.ie/laptops/used-ibm-r31/230354
    that would do the job (wouldn't pay more than €80 for that pc).
