EU3 - Divine Wind is out

Divine Wind is out on Gamersgate, 4th expansion for Europa Universalis 3. Quite a good game, and Divine Wind makes a hell of lot of changes to the previous versions. Lots if UI and interface improvements from other Paradox titles, and a general graphics overhaul. Though the maps are weird looking - Scotland and Ulster are way too close together. Basically a river between them rather than a sea.

I am currently playing a Leinster game (Of course, I modded it to make England less homicidal) and its different...harder to make income trading under the new trade system, so harder to make income period for an Irish minor. Still trying to get traction economically before I can think of expanding to unite Ireland. Much slower start than youd get in previous versions.

I'm holding off for the Steam Sale at the moment but if I don't pick up anything there i'll be getting this.

Any major bugs? Should I hold off for a patch or anything?

Dont think it will be out for the Steam version until January...which isnt too far away I suppose.

No major problems, except cascading alliances. In previous versions, only the initial defender in war could call in allies. People exploited this: instead of attacking France directly which would mean France would call up their 30 vassals and allies, people would just attack one of Frances allies. That vassal would only call its one ally - France. Neat little exploit.

Theyve changed it now so that war leader can always call in allies to beat this exploit. So now, you attack the single vassal. Its war leader, so it calls in France. Now France is the War leader, so they call in their 30 vassals/allies.

The problems people are seeing is that now two small nations go to war, and suddenly allies are called in, who become war leader, who then call in their allies, who become war leader, who then call in their allies....before you know it most of Europe is marching to war.

I havent seen much evidence yet of this (If the first wave of allies called in contains someone like France or Austria or England or Castille they will become War Leader and stay War Leader so the domino effect will stop), but its a complaint being voiced in 2-3 threads on the forum with people complaining that they cant use a small nation to attack another small nation without being attacked from all sides.

    Cheers for the reply.

Hmm that domino effect used to happen to me with HTTT. I'll keep an eye on the Paradox forum.

    Cheers

I'm not sure what you mean?

Do you have EUIII and can't upgrade to Divine Wind Add-on?

Other Expansions are available for EUIII theyare called In Nomine. Napoleons Ambition & Heir to the Throne.

I think you need all 3 expansions to play Divine Wind but I could be wrong
