The toilet flushes OK, but it has become very slow to refill.
No obvious signs of blockage. What could it be?

If its only a recent problem its just because of the pressure problems with water in dublin at the moment. Have you a top flush cistern...

I would suggest you keep a spare bucket beside it for a while just for emergencies... And big ones...:D

Check your tank in the attic , is it full , is the water and Tank bottem clean of grit, is the WC cystern connected to the incoming main water supply (it does happen). Is the ballvalve blocked by dirt/ grit. This happens when the supply fails and then comes back --- If you can shut of the supply to the cystern (to prevent flooding) check the ballvalve.

Your thinking the same as me. I dont think his tank is full

There are two toilets in the house, the one in the bathroom works fine, the one in the shower room is filling slowly. I'm guessing but if it was a pressure issue it would affect both toilets?

It can depend. For example, if one toilet is near the kitchen and one is upstairs, then there's a higher likelyhood that the toilet at the kitchen is off the rising mains.

Have you any problems with you're hot water? Are these taps running ok?

Both toilets are on the same floor, I did have an issue with one radiator air locked, but that's fixed a while now.

The heating will be a separate system to the water. Have you any problems with you're hot water?

had same problem , i solved it by turning off water to the cistern ,, opened the ballcock valve where there was just a piece of grit just stopping the flow of water,, once i cleaned that put back in place again then switched water back on all was fine, maybe this will help you

    Sorted!
Now I can flush with the knowledge that it wont take 40 mins to refill!
    :)

A bit of dirt in the ballcock valve. It looked like a piece of semicircular plastic, perhaps from cutting the pipe during installation.
