i've been driving since january and I know all the basics. My parents have neither the time or the patience to take me driving in our car, so my only option is to take a heap of driving lessons. How many on average should it take?!

The future legal minimun will be 48. That will be 12 hours of lessons and 36 with a friend or family member. I have had students who have gone straight from lessons to test and passed with only 12, 15 and 20 lessons. But this is very hard to do.
Get lessons AND get out with someone, anyone else.

Does that apply to current (those on a 2nd provisional) and or recent learner drivers, or only learner drivers who get their first permit after the new law comes in or will it apply to everyone who has a learners permit/provisonal licence for what ever lenght?

Its a good idea to start with 10 lessons, Then your ADI approved instructor will give you an assessment of where to go from there.

I've taken 10 one hour lesson and practice around 50 hours with family. I've got to do my Driving Test soon so hopefully that's enough to pass. I can't drive a lot these days because of the weather.
