Wireless in a Packard Bell laptop

    Hi folks,

a mate asked me to look at his laptop as it was running very slow, it was running Vista at the time but I ended up rebuilding it with XP Pro, got all the drivers from the PB site including the wireless.

My problem is the wireless adapter isn't being detected and so there's no option to search for wireless networks. I checked Device Manager thinking maybe the driver was wrong and could use the Device ID to work out what was actually installed but nothing appears in any of the lists.

I checked with my mate to make sure the laptop actually has a wireless card and he wasn't just using a 3G modem all the time but he says he has Eircom Wireless at home and had no problem connecting to it.

Does anyone have any ideas before I start taking the laptop apart to check the part manually?
