My car is a 01 and due it's NCT in March.

It's also due a service, not a big service (that was the last one ) so I'm half thinking that if I could I'd book it in for an NCT and see how it does.

Is there a minimum time prior to expiration of an NCT that you can renew?

I think you can do an NCT in the 3 months before your current NCT expires. Your new expiry date will be the same month as your old one, so in theory its a 27 month NCT.

you can do it 6 months in advance for a car that is only due its first test and 3 months for one that has been tested or should have been tested.
