    hi guys,

I was just wondering have any of you guys used this site for buying a laptop or anything like that, they are very cheap but they want a western union or bank transfer. Just wondering if anyone has used it and have they had any good or bad experiences?

    Cheers
    Kev

  • Never used that particular site but a general rule of thumb for online trading would be to AVOID any company who only accept Western Union or bank transfer as methods of payment. A quick google search of albibaba has also brought up numerous "scam" related articles. My advice: Avoid.

Don't go fpr Western union payment, also check if the seller is verified by Alibaba, even if they deliver after payment you will get a chinese quality laptop, not a genuine one. Also, if you calculate shipping and custom fees, price is not as low as you think

Forget alibaba, use aliexpress - its alibaba's distribution hub. Basically speaking its the same website but you purchase behind an escrow service so you are sure that you are protected.

In any case, these sorts of sites are running ragged with counterfeit goods. I would be extremely careful and do my homework a little extra when purchasing from them.

I've purchased a few things in the past and have found the quality of goods to be quite lacking.

Yeah as others have said be careful, aliexpress is decent enough, but if its something branded I would not expect originals! Be wary of the import duty as well, which is calculated including shipping cost as far as I remember.

I was in China a few months ago and spotted a 11' macbook air - 3 months prior to its release date !!

Of course it was running Windows 7 not mac OSX, but and felt decent enough with nice solid aluminium body n' all considering the $250 euro asking price - staff insisted it was original

You'll save a few bob (maybe) but probably not worth the grief considering the price of lappies these days from Elara/UK/Up North .. and you wont have the shipping wait to deal with.

No - NEVER use western union online Period !
