I've done it before with no trouble, laptops being giving me a bitta grief lately so I decided I was gonna restore it to factory defaults.

If I use the Recovery Manager and go through the options, it reboots itself but back into the OS (Vista) like I did nothing.

Also if I press F11 to get into it from the BIOS screen it does nothing and just boots into Windows anyway :/

    any ideas?

If you can't get it to boot into the recovery partition normally and assuming that the recovery partition is still there then you should be able to boot into it using the Ultimate Boot CD.

There are a series of boot management tools on the CD and one of them (sorry I can't remember which one) will allow to select any partition on the drive and boot from it. I used it in exactly this scenario before.
