I think thats the cheapest Ive seen Fully Synth oil go for. Their Semi-Synth is not amazing value at EUR25 for 4litres, but IMO EUR28 for Fully Synthetic Motor Oil is a great price. It meets a variety of specs, petrol and diesel. Dont have the bottle in front of me right now though.

Much cheaper than Halfords own brand fully synth.

Thats odd as I got a price of well over EUR50 for Fully Synth from the local VW garage last week.. Their Semi-Synth was close to the price you quote (well, EUR35). I would have thought even the delivery charge on 5l of oil would be near £10.

you mentioned that before. That price sounds like a mistake really given that you said it was from vw dealer and also included delivery!

€21 for 5 litres of that oil (plus the other prices for VW original stuff) is exceptional. I used to use Opie Oils but they couldn't touch those prices.

A bit strange your contact didn't pick up the 150bhp pd engine from the arl engine-code you supplied; it's identical to the Golf.

Been using that tesco oil (comes in a gold container) for well over a year now with no problems. Last time cheap oil was mentioned on here some people slated tesco or lidl oil, but if it meets all the standards then waht's the problem? I'd have to assume that tesco buy it from the same refineries as the big name brands.
Halfords lol...castrol can be cheaper than their own brand during some of their sales. Jokeshop.

Just read somewhere that Ford have changed there oil specification, they are now recommending fully synth over part synth? Is that true?

I know I am going to be highly critisied for saying this but I would be afraid to use anything other than Castrol edge when I have a DPF. I have heard plenty of DPF failure stories over using cheap oil.

Very often it can be just wrong rather than cheap; more expensive is not necessarily better if it doesn't meet the manufacturer's specs or if the car is over-filled. What does the car manufacturer recommend?

Why post such things without providing more details or a link for others can benefit!

Thats true. VW recommend Castrol. I can buy the 5W-30 edge fairly cheap so I dont mind using it.
