Steam in Immersion room??

    Hey

Dont know if this is a stupid question or not.

Most night before going to bed I would turn the immersion on in my apartment. Last night while lying in bed, I could hear water going crazy somewhere and presumed it was somewhere else in my apartment block but I got up to investigate anyway.

When I went into the immersion storage room, I noticed that there were specs of water over certain items in there. Looking more closely at the pipes it seemed at corner that it was damp but also at that corner there was an open part of the pipe, which was held connected by a specifically designed plastic item.

I then presumed it was excess steam that was coming from this but should this be happening???

    Just a quick question

Why do you turn on the immersion when going to bed? Do you leave it on all night?

that plastic part is a tundish which is connected to the safety valve on your cylinder.
due to the excessive temperature ( and pressure) it has released through this pipe to a drain.

Stop using your immersion and get a plumber out to sort it.
most likely a failed stat as previous poster suggested.

I agree with the other posters. Sounds like the stat has failed, causing the water to boil over.
