No call back after interview

I had an interview a few weeks back with House of Ireland which I thought went well though they never called back, not even to tell me I didn't have the job-I think that's really rude don't you?!

I know they must have had a lot of applicants but putting in the effort and prep work for an interview should at least be acknowledged by a return phone call or email/letter. It's disheartening when one has been applying and applying to jobs and get no feedback, they should have some respect for their interviewees. I'm not happy!

Have you called them to see how it went or to ask for feedback?

As someone who interviews people a lot (:(), I always provide feedback within one week, however I'm always impressed by those who call me looking for feedback. :)

Yes I did call them, it was about a week and a half later.
The manager was busy and I was told she would call me back. pfft.

Well then they've no excuse. It's probably safe to say you didn't get the job but equally do you really want to work for a company that treats interviewees like that? I wouldn't. :)

    +1
Always stick in a "just following up on the interview" call, but only once. If they say, "Oh nothing yet, I'll come back to you tomorrow", and you hear nothing, then you can safely assume that you haven't got it and they're not an employer worth working for.

If they fail to treat you with basic respect at such an early stage, what will they be like when you're working there?

I always think it is important for an employer who have asked you to go to the effort of attending an interview to come back to you one way or the other.

I can understand the shortlisting process with 100's of CVs that It would be inconceivable to reply to everybody but if you have been interviewed it should be a matter of course.

I had an interview with a large third level institution back in August for a part time lecturing position..
Interview went very well...was as good as told I had the position and they simply needed to figure out where I fitted in as they composed year schedules...said they woiuld contact me within a week..

Never heard ought...and I rang and left two messages, two emails also and also emailed the girl in HR that I had dealt with.....Hows that for feedback ????

why should someone call back for feedback, i think its a lot of bs tbh

surely if a candidate did a good interview, expressed interest towards the end and all that then the onus is on the company to offer a job or send a pfo letter.

sending thank you letters and the like is utter c0ck

I often receive CVs in the course of my work, but the final call on the hire isn't 100% down to me. My manager has to get the budget and position approved and that takes time as well. A lot of the time, we're waiting and hoping for better CVs to come in :(

In the meantime, I can't give any heads up to the other candidates, apart from some basic generic comment. I'd love to, I've been on the other side of it myself, but hands are tied. :(
