Warranty on body work

So I have a 07 Passat. In October 08 I had to get some bodywork done as a result of a crash. Went to the Axa repair centre, pretty much on the insistence of my insurance company. Now just over two years later I have noticed some corrosion on the same area the work was done (near rear wheel arch). So my question is - would I have a hope going to VW with this or will they just tell me to go to where I got it repaired?

In other words would my VW warrenty still apply or am I now under warrenty for the repair work. Does anyone know how long that repair warrenty might be for?

I know I should just ring them and I plan to do that but I want to be a bit prepared so wanted to see if anyone know the story on this one

    cheers!

I'd imagine if it is the repaired section that has the corrosion then it should go back to the body shop that repaired it (assuming they gave a guarantee on the work).

The body-work repair (if that's where the corrosion is visible) has nothing to do with VW or the VW-dealer. It's between you, your insurer and the repair shop.

BTW, you do realise why insurance companies "encourage" customers to use their "approved" repairers? It generally meand tha repairs are carried out down to a price rather than up to a standard and you generally get what you pay for.

Yes I do - but I also know that main dealers can sometimes decide to replace a whole wing when they don't need to when they know it's an insurance job - there's bad on both sides...

anyway thanks all - I'll get on to the insurance company and see what happens

AXAs approved body shops should carry a 3 year warranty ;) at least thats what AXA told me, they also messed up on mine they replaced one of my head lights with a european headlight when they were clearly told it was a japanese import and were provided with parts numbers  , never again will i deal with AXA approved repair shops.
