With all these companys popping up overnight i have to wonder about SEAI's auditing system.

I Was at a clients semi detach last week, turns out she had a quote from a surveyor on behalf of the insulation company. He had recommended pumping her cavity wall even though it was timber frame house with a 50mm air cavity clearly visible from ESB box. He had also recommended topping up attic insulation 150mm even though there was 300mm existing.

She didn't know the type of construction of her house or what was in the attic, i would love to know if she accepted it would they have actually pumped bonded bead in her walls, Surley not?

The construction industry is very much like the banking sector, nursing homes and other great pillars of our economy in that they are self regulated. No worries there then is there? I mean we are all able to set the highest standards irrespective of market share and profit.

    wait a minute.....

I life in a sixties house with an outside ESB meter Box installed in a simple cavity wall facing right into the wind. In the winter as a result of this we get dampness and moulds appearing in the room behind the ESB meter box.
Does anyone know is there anyone supplying an insulating cover (could be a glass door) that can be installed over the box on the outside to decrease the significant loss of heat from the house?
