Just wondering what the legal standpoint of this is,

address, DOB and Surname are all perfect, but my first name, although the same, is mispelled by one letter (E instead of an A)

its only a provisional, so will I be alright with it, or because its a government document, it could be deemed false ?

don't know how they got it wrong, spelled everything correctly (triple checked) and they had a photocopy of my passport and everything with the proper spelling

You do realise that 'mispelling' and 'mispelled' in your post are incorrect?

Why not just go back to the driving licence section and get a new one????

    No, it's m-i-s-s-p-e-l-l-i-n-g and m-i-s-s-p-e-l-l-e-d. Oh and A-i-d-a-n.

I won't get a chance cos I'm working weekdays, with the Christmas breaks and that I mightn't get a chance to get to the licence office until next month

    This is an official document.

Technically, and on a very strict view, it is not your correct name so it is not you described thereon.

Wait until you have been queried about twenty times at Garda checkpoints over the next few weeks and it becomes very boring.:):)

Get it changed as some of these simple mistakes can take on an unbelievably stupid life of their own.

got a chance to go up to the motor tax office there last week, it was sorted there and then, new licence issued ... :D

The lady there was saying that it can actually be very serious, especially if you have a bad garda or if you had to deal with your insurence company over an accident, because technically it could be interpreted as not having a licence at all ...

all over one letter, mad isn't it
