I think The 2011 Senoir Leinster Prelimanry Football game between Wexford and Offaly sould be played in Nowlan Park Kilkenny. It give Football exporsure in areas that it would not be generally known and it would be something different. The hurling teams from Wexford and Offaly often played each other in Nowlan Park why not let the footballers play there.

    Ur Thoughts ???

Depends on the date wouldn't want it to clash with a Munster SHC fixture:pac:

Its a good idea in principle but I dunno would an AI football final even entice the KK lads to give the football a good lash. Hurling is just too strong in KK

Don't think the idea is viable in terms of promoting the football to KK fans.Sure it would be a good neutral venue between Wexford and Offaly but the KK football team is so poor that they don't bother or possibly that they don't want to be bothered.

Realistically, the county board in Kilkenny need to get their fingers out and start investing and promoting the game at juvenile level so that in the next 15 years there may be a possibility that Kilkenny can field a credible football team.

Yeah, you should really check some facts before you assume things - the KK board have been been investing in and promoting the game, but when you are in a county with such a hurling tradition it is hard to do http://kilkennygaa.ie/Downloads/GAACoachingManual.pdf. Looking at the organisation of both the hurling and the football at juvenile level, it is something that is well run

It would be the same thing as Kerry promoting hurling, it is hard to do if a county steeped in a tradition of either hurling or football, but they are attempting to do so!

I'd say that they'd be as well off playing this in either Tullamore or Wexford...at least that would mean that there might be a decent enough home support, couldn't see many from either county making the trip to Kilkenny.

With the state of hurling in counties like Cavan,

shouldn't we be trying to encourage hurling in football counties, especially in Ulster where they treat hurling like a ginger stepchild.

At the end of the day people of Kilkenny know football exists. They see it every week during the summer. They have made their choice that their a hurling county so I don't see what putting in a Wexford and Offaly football match will do.

What I really don't get though is why Kilkenny play in the league but not in the Championship. New Yok play more games then Kilkenny. Just doesn't make sense.

Fair point Pappy, but unfortunately in the six counties carrying a hurl was like carrying a "I'm a Fenian" flag. Antrim have made great progress under the circumstances though. Much as I'd like to see football promoted in hurling counties and visa versa I think now with high emmigration it's going to be a hard battle. As regards playing the Wex v Off match in KK I really don't think they would pull in any sort of a crowd, unfortunately.
