Ok I parked in the Asda shopping centre in enniskillen on Saturday and when I returned to the car it would not start..immobiliser fault, anyway I rang my friend to collect me and left car there..got someone to look at it Monday but found a fine of £60 on the windscreen. I thought the Asda park was private and I was ok to park there but fine is from county council..
The car was northern Ireland reg is now exported.
What powers do the council have and would they follow thru on this if I didn’t pay
    What should i do?
    thanks

Who will they send out the fine to? IF it is exported south then they won't be able to trace the new registration. I wouldn't bother paying it if they can't locate the owner now due to the registration change unless it was in your southern address when it had the northern reg.

    Its changed now,
You can get fines from the north...
I'd pay it! Its not the last you'll hear of it!

I'd say this was the issue.

thats the thing it is UK taxed and tested until May 2011 AND was displayed on windscreen so not that, so just a parking fine from county council.. i dont think they have near the same powers as a ticket from the police for example and would the CC bother to follow it up once it comes up exported... this is what im hoping for

Well then the fine will go to its registered owner in the UK.

i thought the car park belongs to ASDA, But couldnt help breaking down..

the car was on UK plates when it got the ticket, just have 3 days and didnt get chance to vrt or change plates but is exported as the permanent export cert was filled in and returned to coleraine and comes up on HPI as exported now too...this will help the previous keeper too as he would not be liable

what can the county council do anyway?

The signs regarding parking are very clear in that car park, and there are many of them, cant remember the exact words, but free for 3 hours, no return within 2 hours, amoungst other advice on them.

Dont forget to cash in your uk tax disc, I presume it can still be done, I've done it a few times.
As for the parking fine.....Let them sing for it:D

didnt notice the signs but car broke down and had to leave it anyway...( you have to be the registered owner of the car and live in NI to get the tax refunded)
dont think il pay it and hope it will be too much bother for them to follow up, ITS just the CC anyhow
    thanks

I've about 8/9 parking tickets from the North, never paid one, never heard anything more, first one was at least 10 years ago, last one was august.

(if anyone knows derry, i always park at the back of the richmond, big wide street, god knows why they have yellow lines there)
