Need restart to enable 3G data

I use my iPhone 3gs without 3G most of the time. When I switch on 3G, I get a signal (including the 3G in blue), but data isn't working. I either have to restart the phone or enable then disable Aircraft mode. This forces a new search for signal, and then data works.

This has happened since upgrade to iOS 4.0. I'm on 3. Any ideas? Phone isn't JB'd.

I noticed my iPhone 4 is losing data since I updated to the latest software version. Usually after being to connected to wifi at work or at home. I dont know if it's a glitch or what.

You could have a look at the MASSIVE thread about 3 on this page. This is the main problem on it. Short cut - ring Three, and ask to be put through to Tier 2 iPhone support. Its what I had to do to get it sorted out. You will probably need a couple of calls to Tech support first as they are nice but truly useless. Do NOT under any circumstances bring it to a phone repair centre in Ireland - NONE of them are authorised by Apple and will invalidate the warranty. It is a Three network issue. Their recent answer seems to be to allow people to leave rather than fix the problem.

I (and I'm sure alot others) would highly recommend this option! They let me leave and refunded all my bills from the date I joined.

Just to clarify then. Is it fixable?
My phone is unlocked as I started on O2 and got released because of their poor signal where I live. So changing from 3 doesn't do anything for me.

They fixed it for me, but they just don't seem arsed to fix it any more. Its a real shame the way they are watching business just walk away rather than take the bull by the horns and fix it.
