    am interested in buying new TV around 26" size. Extra Vision are offering a nice Hanspree model, 2 years guarantee at about €250. Has anyone any experience of this make, or any suggestions. What is the advantage of LCD and LED

    thanks

    LCD = liquid crystal display.
    LED = light emitting diode.

    An LCD display shows the image but it need to be lit up from behind so that you can see that image clearly. Normally a small fluorescent tube provides the light and the light is scattered and reflected around behind the display to fill the screen. This produces slight variations in brightness (which most people don't notice).

    LED refers to how the LCD is lit up from behind using a ring of LEDs to provide a more even distribution of backlight. LED displays do not use LEDs to generate the images, that is a similar technology called OLED which is much more expensive
